VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Four passengers and two crew members have been injured on an Air Canada flight out of YVR. The plane landed safely in Sydney, Australia after hitting some turbulence.
There were 269 people on board. The crew was serving coffee and tea when the ride got bumpy.
Four passengers and two crew members suffered minor burns. Claire Newell with Jubilee Travel says incidents like this are rare.
“You know, I’ve been in the industry almost 20 years and I’ve heard this happen, but it’s very, very infrequent,” she says.
She says travellers can protect themselves from this sort of accident.
“I think if people are concerned about this, they should probably take their own travel cup that has a lid, and that way it would contain any potential spills.”
A doctor on board the flight had a look at the injuries and no one needed to be hospitalized.
