High school in Peel Region evacuated after accident in science lab

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – A Mississauga high school was evacuated, Wednesday, after something went wrong inside a science lab.
Fire officials were called to St. Marcellinus Secondary School, which is located in the Courtneypark Dr. and Mavis Rd. area, just before 2:30 p.m.
Bruce Campbell, with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, told 680News the incident happened inside a grade 11 science lab during a teacher-led student experient.
“Somehow the flask of methanol caught fire and a number of students were burned. There are varying degrees of the injuries. Six students in total.”
Five of the six students were taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for burns.
An investigation into what caused the accident has been launched.
