A recent auction shows it has gotten more expensive to lunch with a billionaire.
A bidder with deep pockets won the opportunity to dine with investing legend Warren Buffett Friday, for the tidy sum of $3.5 million.
The high-profile lunch was sold during an online charity auction, and this year’s total was a spike from previous years.
The auction benefits the Glide Foundation, which supports homeless people in the San Francisco area.
It has been a tradition for several years for the foundation to be supported by Buffet, who uses the “Power Lunch with Warren Buffett” event to support a significant portion of Glide’s operating budget.
The previous high bid, set by an anonymous bidder, was $2.6 million in 2011.
