A drug raid in Yorkville has netted police $1.5-million in drugs, firearms and ammunition.
Investigators are also trying to determine if a mystery substance they found is the potent designer drug known as “bath salts.”
Constable Tony Vella told 680News it’s too early to say for sure.
“We don’t want to speculate exactly what it is at this point. That wouldn’t be fair. Once we have the results back and the official test is done, then we’ll know.”
According to police, a search warrant was also used on the suspect’s vehicle and $175,000 in cash was seized. Police said cash and drug paraphernalia was seized from the suspect’s apartment on Yorkville Avenue.
Also, police seized 11 firearms (7 handguns, an AK-47, a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle, high capacity magazines and ammunition) at a home on Huron Street. Police also seized a large quantity of drugs from the home with an estimated street value of over $1.5-million.
The drugs include ecstasy, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, GHB, marijuana, ketamine, hashish and Oxycontin. The crystal meth alone has a street value of over $800,000.
Police charged Bennett Vuong of Toronto, 27, with a total of 82 drug and firearm related charges. Vella said he is known to police.
