Jail guards to rally at Queen’s Park

Hundreds of uniformed jail guards will be at Queens Park to rally in support of their colleagues at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre, Monday.
More than 200 officers at the steeltown centre are involved in a 13 day long dispute with management over proposed safety and disciplinary measures.
The officers are trying to force a meeting with community safety and correctional services minister Madeleine Meilleur to resolve the situation.
They already have meetings scheduled for Monday with Conservative and NDP opposition critics.
