Three-day adoption blitz underway at Toronto Humane Society

TORONTO, Ont. – The Toronto Humane Society launched a three-day adoption blitz, Friday, in the hopes to find homes for several animals before the seven-week shutdown.

There are about 30 cats looking for new families, and the goal is to find homes for all of them by Sunday night.

“We are going to do some re-training of staff, and bringing them up to date on procedures and practices, and make sure they can best serve the animals. We are going to do some renovations of our facility,” Toronto Humane Society spokesman Ian McConachie told 680News.

Potential adopters are invited to see any of the animals they wish, and can even open the cat’s cage and interact with it.

David, who came to the shelter looking for a cat, ended up leaving with a pair of cats that he didn’t want to separate.

“They’ll keep each other company — mother and daughter combination, and it’s a time to help out in this really trying time for the shelter.” he said.

The animals that are not adopted by Sunday with be transferred to the Toronto Humane Society’s Victoria Park location.
