CAA urges taxpayers to speak up on how HST is spent

TORONTO, Ont. – The Canadian Automobile Association wants taxpayers to have their say and urge Queen’s Park to use money generated from the upcoming HST toward improving Ontario’s roads.

The CAA has started an online petition, calling on the McGuinty government to direct the HST collected on gasoline toward infrastructure and road maintenance.

“The new HST means drivers will be paying more out of pocket at the pumps,” Faye Lyons, CAA South Central Ontario Insurance Brokers government relations specialist, said in a press release.

“It’s the taxpayers’ money and they should have a say on how the HST is spent.”
