Veterans celebrated during 89th Annual Warriors’ Day

TORONTO, Ont. – Saturday is the 89th Annual Warriors’ Day at the CNE,  and Canadian veterans of war and peacekeeping missions can ride the TTC, Mississauga Transit and GO transit free of charge.

Canadian war veterans and peacekeepers have been asked to show their service medals or ribbons to receive their well-deserved free ride.

One companion and family members of deceased veterans can also ride free of charge.

But it isn’t only a ride that veterans will receive. The celebrations will also include The Annual Warriors’ Day parade at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Warriors’ Day is the longest-running annual veterans and military parade. More than 2,500 veterans and military are expected to march in the 2010 parade. Bands will join in the parade as participants march through the Princes’ Gates into the Exhibition grounds.

Canada’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk will be welcomed as a guest and as Reviewing Officer for the parade.
