A Toronto man has been charged with mischief after he was caught spraying a dubious substance into a dog water bowl last weekend.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. last Saturday at a storefront in the Queen Street East and Boulton Avenue area.
A video of the incident showed a man walking past the bowl and pointing at it. He walks out of the frame before returning seconds later. He then appears to uncap a small bottle and spray something into the dog bowl before walking off.
A good samaritan noticed and quickly informed the store owner, who removed the bowl before any dogs or animals could drink from it. The video quickly gained attention online and Toronto police issued a photo of the man believed to have committed the act.
On Wednesday, police arrested and charged 41-year-old Johnny Forte of Toronto with one count of mischief to property. He appeared in court on Thursday.
Police continue to urge store owners to be attentive when placing dog bowls outside.
