A man who allegedly pushed another man onto the subway tracks at Bloor-Yonge station as a train was approaching last Friday has turned himself in to police.

Police say the suspect, 26-year-old Tasho Shipinkas of Toronto, surrendered on Wednesday and has since been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Police were initially called for unknown trouble at the subway station just before 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was carrying a large box on the platform and accidentally made contact with the suspect.

Police say an argument took place and the victim was pushed onto the tracks and he was struck and dragged by the oncoming train. The suspect ran out of the subway station.

The victim was taken to hospital, but police did not disclose the severity of his injuries.

Shipinkas appeared in court Friday morning.
