Man dead in North York shooting, suspect in custody

A man is dead following a shooting in North York on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to a residence on Connaught Avenue in the area of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West at around 3:17 p.m.

When they arrived they discovered a man in his 30s suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures before the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Bryson Kyle Murle of Toronto.

Police say a weapon was recovered at the scene and an adult male was arrested.

He was identified as 44-year-old Spiros Tsakopoulos of Toronto. He faces a second-degree murder charge.

Tsakopoulos appeared in court on Friday.

It’s not known at this time if there is a relationship between the suspect and the victim.

The investigation is ongoing.
