Two suspects sought following armed carjacking in North York

Police are searching for two suspects following a carjacking in North York.

The latest incident occurred in the area of Keele Street and Finch Avenue West around 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police say the victim was threatened with a gun and their vehicle stolen.

No injuries were reported and no suspect descriptions have been released at this time.

The incident comes on the same day police laid 100 charges against two teens linked to a series of carjackings across the city. Most of the incidents occurred in Scarborough with two of the carjackings happening in Durham.

Police do not believe the teenagers have a connection to organized crime and were only using the stolen vehicles to commit other offences, such as robberies.

There have been over 100 carjackings in Toronto this year, which has led police to set up a new investigative unit to focus on the surge in violent thefts. There were 103 carjackings in the city in all of 2021.
