Two people are lucky to be alive after the car they were travelling in was flattened following a single-vehicle rollover on the Toronto-bound QEW in Niagara Region.

Ontario provincial police were called to the OEW near Glendale Avenue in Niagara Falls around 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Police say a witness told them they saw the vehicle travelling at high speed and then rolling over at least five times.

The impact of the crash sent the vehicle’s engine flying out 50-60 metres away.

The two people in the car were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
