Two people rescued from highrise fire near Gerrard and Jarvis

Firefighters rescued two people from a highrise in downtown Toronto after a two-alarm fire early Friday morning.

Toronto Fire was called to the building on Mutual Street near Gerrard Street East and Jarvis Street just after 4 a.m.

One of the people rescued from the fire was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The other person was assessed at the scene.

It is not yet known where in the building the fire occurred or what caused it.

The fire has since been knocked down.

No other injuries were reported.
