Suspect sought in daylight Christmas Day stabbing in Whitby

Police in Durham Region are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a Christmas Day stabbing in Whitby.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the area of Brock and Dundas streets around 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Police located a 52-year-old man injured at the scene. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect fled southbound on Brock Street before police arrived. He is described as 25 to 30-year-old man who was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, dark grey boots, and a striped toque.

Investigators are still trying to determine the motive for the stabbing.
