Missing 3-month-old girl found safe, father in custody: OPP

A provincewide Amber Alert has been cancelled after a three-month-old girl was found safe Thursday morning after going missing from a small community east of the GTA.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued the alert for the girl who was last seen on Wednesday evening in Roseneath, Ont., a community 30 kilometres northeast of Cobourg.

The Amber Alert was cancelled around 6:45 a.m. Police say the child was found safe in Roseneath and her father has been taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.

OPP investigating why Amber Alert wasn’t sent to most residents

Many cell phone users reported not receiving the Amber Alert notification early Thursday morning.

The OPP says they are aware the notification was not sent to everyone and are working to figure out why.

“The Amber Alert was successfully received by those in the area where the child had last been seen prior to her abduction,” reads a statement from police.

“We are working to determine the cause of the problem and ensure it is resolved as quickly as possible.”
