Power has been temporarily restored to most of the 267 units of a west-end apartment building after its electrical system was gutted by a fire four days ago.
Management of the building at 357 Rusholme Road says temporary power has been restored through the use of external generators, although it cautioned that “residents may experience sporadic service interruptions in the coming days.”
“With water service, common area lighting and all life-safety systems achieved earlier this week, the return of electrical power today completes our initial efforts to restore full building services to the property,” spokesperson Danny Roth said in a statement issued by Sterling Karamar Property Management.
The management company says it will also be providing tenants with $250 Walmart gift cards for their “ongoing patience” throughout this ordeal.
Residents of the 16-storey west-end apartment building were forced from their homes after a ‘significant’ five-alarm fire damaged the building’s electrical system on Sunday afternoon. The Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
Electricity to two other buildings in the same complex was not been affected by the fire.
Tenants have voiced their displeasure over longstanding issues with the property management company, with some expressing frustration over the lack of communication from management and the shoddy renovations at the property.
