Driver critically injured after car and TTC bus crash in Scarborough

One person was critically injured following a head-on crash involving a car and a bus in Scarborough.

Toronto police say the crash involving a Toyota Matrix occurred in the area of Sheppard Avenue East and Havenview Road around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes and collided with the TTC bus.

Police also say the vehicle was reportedly involved in three different collisions prior: another collision with a TTC bus, then with a Dodge Ram pick up truck, and then a collision with a Toyota Highlander at Markham Road and Sheppard Avenue East.

Paramedics tell CityNews the driver of the vehicle was taken to a trauma centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police said their condition had been changed to life-threatening later in the evening.

Several passengers on the bus were treated for minor injuries with two of them eventually taken to hospital.
