2 teens among 4 arrested in violent Oshawa home invasion, 1 suspect at large

Two youths, aged 16 and 17, are among four people facing charges in connection to a violent home invasion in Oshawa.

Officers were called to a residence in the Ritson Road South and Valley Drive area on Tuesday, July 16, at around 10:40 p.m. for reports of an armed break-in.

“Multiple males forced their way into a residence assaulting one of the home owners, while brandishing firearms,” a Durham Regional Police release states.

“The suspects proceeded to the basement of the residence where another resident of the home was assaulted. The suspects demanded money from the victims before fleeing the area in a stolen vehicle.”

Investigators said one of the victims sustained serious injuries, while a second person had minor injuries. A third person in the residence at the time was uninjured.

The stolen vehicle was spotted a short distance away and was followed by police to a dead end. That’s when all the suspects jumped out and fled on foot.

With the help of a police helicopter, and the K9 Unit, four of the suspects were arrested.

A fifth suspect remains outstanding.

Charles Weir, 36, of no fixed address and Roshane Patrick Stephens, 28, of Toronto, are facing numerous charges including assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, among others.

The two teens cannot be named, and the identity of the fifth suspect is not known.
