Woman critically injured in car, truck crash on Hwy. 401 near Oshawa

A woman has been critically injured in a crash along a stretch of Highway 401 near Oshawa.

Provincial police say a transport truck travelling in the westbound lanes of the highway was rear-ended by a car just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday near Courtice Road.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries while a female passenger was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto in critical condition.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The westbound lanes of the highway between Courtice Road and Harmony Road were reopened just before 11 a.m.
