Highway 407 in Brampton reopens following serious crash involving tractor trailer

Highway 407 eastbound in Brampton has reopened following a serious collision involving a motor vehicle and a tractor-trailer, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says.

Provincial police were notified of a crash just before 5 a.m. Monday on the eastbound portion of the highway approaching Mississauga Road.

OPP said the driver of a Honda Civic rear-ended “a commercial motor vehicle,” resulting in the driver of the Honda, a 31-year-old man, suffering life-threatening injuries.

The driver operating the tractor-trailer was taken to the hospital as a precaution, OPP noted.

Eastbound Highway 407 was closed at Mississauga Road due to the crash investigation, as well as the eastbound on-ramps at Mississauga Road. The area has since reopened to traffic.

OPP are urging the public to avoid the area, noting a lengthy closure is expected.

“The collision reconstruction team is on scene conducting an investigation,” OPP stated. “All lanes will be closed until further notice.”
