The Burger’s Priest, a popular fast-food restaurant in Etobicoke, was significantly damaged in a suspected case of arson, police said.
It’s the fourth incident of suspected arson at the restaurant since the beginning of June.
Toronto Fire crews were called to The Queensway and The East Mall at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officials responded to a small internal fire at The Burger’s Priest, located at 1599 The Queensway, which spread to the roof.
The Toronto Police Service (TPS) have since confirmed that it’s being treated as a suspected arson. No injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as wearing a light-coloured long sleeve shirt with a dark hood, dark coloured pants, dark coloured shoes, and carrying a red jerry gas can in a blue bag.
Police tell 680 NewsRadio that cleaning staff were inside The Burger’s Priest when the suspect began setting the restaurant on fire.
Just three days earlier, on July 12, at around 4 a.m., police say two suspects went to the store while one poured an accelerant and caused minor fire damage to outside the restaurant.
One of the suspects was wearing a dark coloured high-visibility suit, possibly blue while the other was wearing a dark coloured sweater with shorts, red shoes, and carrying a backpack.
A few days before that on July 9, two suspects went to the side door of the restaurant at 2 a.m., poured an accelerant and caused minor fire damage to an outdoor vestibule.
Both suspects were wearing all dark clothing, and carrying a red jerry gas can in a black plastic bag.
A month prior on June 7, around 1:30 a.m., two suspects broke into the restaurant and caused minor fire damage at the entrance.
One of the suspects is described as wearing a light-coloured tracksuit with light coloured shoes.
Investigators say they believe all the the incidents are related. Anyone with information is asked to contact TPS.
