Man, 78, struck by vehicle in Etobicoke, critically injured

A man is critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle on Dundas Street West and Islington Avenue.

A 78-year-old man is critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle in Etobicoke.

Toronto police and paramedics were called to the area of Dundas Street West and Islington Avenue just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police say a vehicle was travelling south on Islington and was making a right turn onto Dundas when it hit the man in the crosswalk.

Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver remained at the scene.

Dundas was closed both ways at Islington for the collision investigation but the roadway reopened around the noon hour.
