Guvernment nightclub to close after 17 years

Canada’s largest and longest-running nightclub will throw its last party in January 2015.
Parent company Ink Entertainment announced on Thursday the Guvernment and Koolhaus Entertainment Complex will close its doors on Jan. 31, 2015, after 17 years in business.
“It makes me proud to see how far we’ve come,” Ink CEO Charles Khabouth said in a statement.
“The Guvernment is one of my proudest achievements and after such a long-lasting journey with such fond memories, we want to thank all those who made it possible and shared in our successes.”
Together, Koolhaus and The Guvernment have hosted A-list acts like The Rolling Stones, Prince, Bob Dylan, The Killers, Coldplay, Lady Gaga and Deadmau5.
Future concerts and shows will take place at Ink’s other venues, Sound Academy and Tattoo Queen West.
Farewell events are planned in the weeks leading up to The Guvernment’s close.
“You know us, and you know what we do,” Khabouth said.
“We’re speaking to all key people and we’re not going to go out on anything other than a massive bang.”
