Witnesses near Bellevue Square Park in the Augusta and Dundas area of Kensington Market stood horrified as seven men got into a confrontation with the helpless victim and then proceeded to stab him at least four times using the sharp edge of the club. He was hit in the face, head and back.
The suspects then fled down nearby Denision Ave. and disappeared.
“The guy was bleeding badly,” recalls Caroline, a shaken witness who didn’t want her last name used. “He was just alone against like seven other guys.”
She was a few feet away from the scene, where the victim’s jacket was left crumpled and stained with his own blood (below).
“We’ve recovered a golf club with the head that’s been taken off, as well as some scissors,” reveals Sgt Robert Choe. “It looks like a laceration to the forehead and some stab wounds to the back.”
Those who saw it take place agree there seemed to be no reason for the violence.
A witness indicates it looked like the man knew at least one of his assailants, but there’s no indication what led to the attack.
“I immediately thought that it looked like a murder scene,” one resident shakes his head.
The victim remains in serious condition in hospital and police are hoping he can provide more information on the who – and the why.
