The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will figure prominently when the Canadian Football League announces Friday its Hall of Fame inductees for 2011, Sportsnet.ca has learned.
Three of the seven members will have Ticat influences, sources say, and two of the inductees will be quarterback Danny McManus and rush end Joe Montford.
McManus is first on the Ticats’ list for career passing yards, completions, touchdown passes and is third overall in Canadian Football League career passing yards with 53,255.
Montford is fifth overall in career sacks with 135, the majority of them recorded with the Cats.
It is not expected that the late Cookie Gilchrist will be inducted. Gilchrist, who recently died at age 75, is the only player to refuse his induction into the Hall. It happened in 1983 and he maintained his rigid stance to the day he died because of his feelings toward the league and, in particular, former commissioner Jake Gaudaur, who was the general manager and team president of the Ticats during Gilchrist’s time with the team.
