Classroom Containment

The Regent Park-Duke of York Public School near Shuter and Parliament was locked down Wednesday after an armed man dropped bullets on the street then barricaded himself inside a house.   Three men were arrested after a standoff but there’s no word yet on charges.


Teacher Taken

 

A Toronto teacher has been arrested for sex-related offences against two teenage girls — 16 and 17-years-old. Police allege a man, who worked at William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate, invited students into his office where he took pictures without their knowledge for a sexual purpose. Tommy Kouzmanis, 33,  has been charged with assault, sexual assault and voyeurism.



Huge Haul

There was a big drug score for the Emergency Task Force and the Guns and Gangs Squad during a downtown raid at Gerrard and River Streets Wednesday.    Police seized a large amount of cocaine and arrested one man.   


Assault Allegations

Police are investigating a frightening claim of sexual assault.

A 25-year-old woman living in the Yonge and Sheppard area woke up to find a shirtless intruder in her home. She says the man broke into her apartment through an unlocked patio door and sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping. When she woke up, her attacker took off.

The culprit is described as:

  • Brown skin,
  • 20-25,
  • 5’2″,
  • Large build.

Struck On Street

A woman believed to be in her 40’s has serious but non-life threatening head injuries after she was hit by a streetcar around 2pm Wednesday at King and Bay Streets. There’s no word yet if charges will be laid. Police are asking witnesses to give them a call.


Police Probe

A Durham police officer is charged with assaulting a 16-year-old student last April at Notre Dame Catholic High School in Ajax. Forty-eight-year-old Constable Joe Mitschang, a high school liaison officer, is suspended with pay.
