All they wanted was a little time with Oprah.
What they got was ripped off.
A Maryland man pleaded guilty to theft after bilking dozens of people out of money for tickets and a chartered bus trip to Chicago to see the Oprah Winfrey Show. He faced a possible seven-year prison sentence, but had nearly all of that time suspended after agreeing to pay back his 60 victims.
Many of them were senior citizens. The man has already paid back some of the money, but apparently still owes $22,000 US.
Tickets for the show are actually free and handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.
People being scammed on Oprah tickets – sounds like a theme for an upcoming segment.
