Police Investigate Apparent Triple Murder At Downtown Hotel

Toronto police are investigating an apparent triple homicide after three people were discovered stabbed to death at a downtown hotel.

Police were called to the 19 th floor of the Delta Chelsea Hotel on Gerrard St. just west of Yonge St. at about 4:30am Monday after security guards found a man with stab wounds in the hallway.

A trail of blood led to a room on the floor where two other bodies were found. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene while another was taken to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The deceased are reportedly two men and a woman.

Investigators are on scene questioning possible witnesses and guests door-to-door, and they’ve assured that there’s no danger to people staying at the hotel. No evacuations were made but a rmed ETF officers were called to the scene at one point to ensure police safety.

Officers  so far haven’t released many details about the killings or the victims’ identities.

“There is blood in the hallway. That’s how the officers found the room where the other two deceased were located,” said Insp. Randy Franks of Toronto Police. “No idea what the connection (between the three victims) is at this time. That’s part of the investigation.”

A wing of the 19 th floor was closed off as police and the coroner contained the gruesome scene and tried to piece together what occurred in the wee hours of the morning. A knife was recovered, and homicide investigators feel it’s the likely murder weapon.

“We discovered a knife in the hotel room that I believe was used in this crime,” said Det. Sgt. Scott Ryan.

David Richardson was one of the hotel guests on the 19th floor and admitted hearing noise at some point overnight.

“I can’t really put my finger on it for the time, but what happened, was we heard a commotion outside the room where we were staying. It was like somebody scuffling along by the corridor. And then I heard a woman say, ‘I’m hurt’, or, ‘It’s my heart,'” he recalled.

Richardson said no one at the hotel informed him what had happened, but that he was going to be relocated to another room.

There’s no word yet on whether police have any leads on possible suspects.
