All-Night Art Festival Kicks Off Saturday

Nuit Blanche is set to kick off Saturday evening, allowing art lovers and those who haven’t had the opportunity to visit some of Toronto’s top cultural spots a chance to spend a sleepless night taking in some of the best contemporary art the city has to offer.

The all-night art event starts at 7pm Saturday evening and finishes up at 7am Sunday.

Some of Toronto’s top cultural attractions are part of the event, including the ROM, the AGO, the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art, the National Ballet School along with dozens of other public and private galleries.

All of the Nuit Blanche exhibits are free.

The event was the brainchild of the deputy mayor of Paris Christophe Girard and he will be on hand when local dignitaries and artists celebrate the official launch of the event Saturday.

This event is part of the city’s Live With Culture campaign, which includes other festivals like Doors Open.

“Toronto is on the cusp of a creativity renaissance. The Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund is proud to invest in the many aspects of Live With Culture, particularly Nuit Blanche,” said Dr. Murray Frum, Chair of the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Board. “We are convinced that Nuit Blanche is poised to become Toronto’s signature fall festival.”
