Raptors Win Home Opener Against Bucks

They may have dropped their season opener to Vince Carter’s New Jersey Nets, but the Toronto Raptors weren’t about to lose their first game in front of hometown fans.

Inspired by the performance of Chris Bosh, who had a game high 26 points and 15 rebounds, the Raptors went on to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 109-92 on Friday night before an appreciative, sell-out crowd at the Air Canada Centre.

“We really wanted to make an impression early and set the tone for the season and show the fans what they’ll be witness to all year,” Bosh said after the game.

Newly signed T.J. Ford had 13 points and 11 assists in his first game against his former team, and Fred Jones added 15 points for the winning side.

Morris Peterson and Jose Calderon each had 14 points apiece.

“I thought all our guys who played, played well,” said a pleased Raptors coach Sam Mitchell.

Andrew Bogut led the futile charge for the Bucks, scoring 18 points, while former Raptor Charlie Villanueva had 17 points and 11 rebounds in his first game against his old teammates.
