Riding high after a big win against the Hawks Friday that put the Raptors over the .500 mark, Toronto trounced the Clippers 122-110 in front of 17,214 fans at the Air Canada Centre Sunday.
Chris Bosh led the squad with 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists, extending the Raptors’ lead atop the Atlantic Division by three games. He received some serious back-up from Jose Calderon and TJ Ford who provided a combined 28 points and 19 assists.
Morris Peterson finished with 18 points.
Sunday’s victory marked Toronto’s third straight win and sixth in seven games.
Coach Sam Mitchell is obviously pleased with the consistent performances from his players.
“I’m just proud of the way my team is playing,” he said. “They’re playing with confidence, they’re playing together. They’re executing and if we do that, we’re going to be tough to beat.”
The Raps tied a franchise record Sunday by shooting 70 percent in the first half.
Sunday’s match-up was a much different story from when these two teams last played each other. This time around Toronto dominated from the get-go. On Dec. 20 the Raptors squeaked out a 98-96 victory in LA after Ford hit the game-winner at the final buzzer.
“We let one get away from us,” Clippers point guard Sam Cassell said Sunday. “Give them a lot of credit, they played well, they made shots. Everything we did to try and stop them, they did better.”
