Blue Jays pitcher Dustin McGowan lasted just 1 2/3 innings after getting rocked for six runs on Tuesday night in a 10-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It was a truly nightmarish outing for the 25-year-old, who had won three of his last four starts.
He gave up three runs in each of the first two innings before manager John Gibbons mercifully ended his night.
“Everything I threw was flat,” said McGowan. “The sinker wasn’t really sinking, it was just staying inside the zone. It’s just one of those games I didn’t have it.”
“Put this one behind you and get ready for the next one.”
“That happens to the best of them,” Gibbons said of McGowan. “It’s how you bounce back and I think he will. He really wasn’t in sync tonight but they came out swinging, too.”
It was the second straight loss for the Jays who fell further from their goal of reaching .500.
