Raps To Ink NBA Three-Point Champ Kapono

Bryan Colangelo continues to put the pieces into the puzzle.

The Toronto Raptors GM added another solid swingman to his already-deep club Sunday, and though the deal can’t be officially announced until July 11, it’s believed reigning NBA three-point competition champion Jason Kapono is headed to Hogtown.

The deal is reportedly worth $24 million over four years and also likely signals the ultimate departure of longtime Raptor Morris Peterson.

Kapono is one of the NBA‘s top sharpshooters, and the UCLA product, taken by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2003 draft, led the league in three-point percentage and posted a career-high 10.9 points per game while with the Miami Heat in 2006-07.

The deal can’t be confirmed by the Raptors, but Kapono’s agent, Bob Myers, stated Sunday that his client is officially spoken for.

Kapono joins former Detroit Pistons swingman Carlos Delfino and Greek star Giorgos Printezis as the newest Raptors, with the latter two brought over via trades in June.
