Motown superstar Stevie Wonder is about to do something he hasn’t done in 20 years – tour.
The Grammy-winning songwriter launches his U.S. tour on August 23 in San Diego, before hitting 12 more cities. The Wonder Summer’s Night tour ends in Boston on September 20. And though Canadian fans of the man behind tunes Superstition and Higher Ground will be disappointed to note that Wonder isn’t coming here, there could be more dates added.
Wonder announced details of the tour at a news conference/impromptu performance at a public park in Century City, Los Angeles. He last went on tour in 1986.
Though Wonder has been largely absent from the music scene in recent years, he’s starting to make a comeback.
In 2005, the singer-songwriter released his first album in a decade, A Time To Love. It debuted at number 5 on the charts and has sold just shy of 500,000. He subsequently appeared on American Idol to help promote it.
