Man Caught Smuggling Pot In Dirty Diaper

A man attempting to bring alcohol and marijuana into a dry Aboriginal community tried to sneak 73 grams of pot in through dirty diapers.
Police allege a 45-year-old man driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle was stopped shortly before midnight last Friday, east of Roper Bar Crossing, a native community southeast of Arnhem Land.
A search of his vehicle turned up six bottles of beer, six cans of rum and cola, a bottle of rum and one can of beer, as well as three clip seal bags of cannabis inside a bag of soiled nappies.
The man was charged with bringing liquor into a restricted area, possessing a trafficable quantity of cannabis, driving unregistered and uninsured and drive while unlicensed.
It is not known what prompted officers to look inside the diapers, other than an odd smell.
