SIU Called In After Reported Police Shooting Sends Man To Hospital

The silence of a quiet Labour Day was shattered just east of the downtown core Monday night after reports of a police shooting in Regent Park, near Dundas and River Streets.

A man was rushed to the major trauma unit of St. Michael’s Hospital after being shot in the neck just after 10:15pm.

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has been called in, but it’s unclear whether there was a chase or some sort of altercation that led to the gunfire.

The victim, who may may also be a suspect and may have been shot while in a car, has apparently sustained life-threatening injuries.

If you saw anything, call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
