Police Arrest Second Suspect In York U Sexual Assaults

Toronto Police have made a second arrest in a frightening series of sexual assaults at York University.

Justin David Connort of Toronto faces 11 charges including five counts of break and enter, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of gang sexual assault and two counts of forcible confinement. The 25-year-old will make a court appearance Saturday.

The first suspect, Daniel Katsnelson, 25, of Thornhill was arrested Wednesday. Facing similar charges, he has a bail hearing on Monday. Police won’t say how long the two suspects have known each other, though it’s alleged they may have been working together.

Authorities said the suspects broke into dorm rooms at Vanier College the first week of the school year and sexually assaulted two women. University officials quickly issued a campus-wide alert following the incidents and increased security on campus.

“It’s been a tough time for everyone, especially the female residents,” student Laura Miller said Saturday. “People were really afraid at first, it was scary.”

In the meantime security has been enhanced across the campus, with added patrols that will remain in effect until the end of the school year.
