The Argos seem to have found their stride, and Dominique Dorsey is a big part of the reason why.
The speedy Dorsey joined Byron Parker with a special-teams touchdown Saturday, to lead Toronto to a 33-8 win over the Edmonton Eskimos.
Dorsey brought the Rogers Centre gathering of 28,354 to its feet with a 69-yard punt return that put Toronto ahead 9-0 in the first quarter and Parker and Jordan Younger combined to put the Eskimos away in the fourth.
Younger blocked an Edmonton punt deep in Eskies territory late, while Parker (pictured, right) had two interceptions and recovered the block for a 23-yard TD to make things 23-8 near the end of the first half.
And while the Boatmen’s offence sputtered at times, the CFL’s leading defence made things very tough on Edmonton rookie QB Stefan LeFors, who was making his first start after incumbent Ricky Ray suffered a dislocated shoulder last week. The Argos applied consistent pressure to LeFors, who finished 15-of-28 passing for 139 yards and a touchdown but also gave up the two picks.
Meanwhile, Toronto earned its third straight win after a horrible start, and with a record of 7-7 moved into second in the East Division, two points ahead of Montreal (6-7), which plays Hamilton (2-11) on Monday. Then the Argos and Als play a crucial home-and-home series which begins Friday in Toronto .
