Senior Dies In Yet Another Fatal GTA Fire

After a weekend of suspicious fires, comes another fatal blaze to start the work week. A Mississauga senior is dead after flames engulfed her home around 4:30pm at 322 Rudar Road near the Queensway and Cawthra.

“Fire crews were able to enter the home, remove a female from it,” confirmed Peel Police Sgt. Stephen Rowe. “Paramedics worked on her, subsequently transported her to hospital where she ended up succumbing to her injuries.”

A man who also lived in the home, reportedly the victim’s common-law husband, was able to escape and was treated for smoke inhalation in hospital but is expected to be okay. There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire, but it’s the second fatal blaze in three days.

On Saturday, a fire that gutted three townhomes in the Jarvis and Carlton area resulted in the gruesome find of a dead body in the ashes the next day. Authorities believe a homeless person may have been using the abandoned structure for shelter when the fire started. The cause of that one remains a mystery, as well.
