Cop Cleared In Alleged Assault On Stripper

He claims he went in on duty to try and spot potential drunk drivers.

She claims he fondled her breasts and then pulled his gun and threatened her with it.

But a Toronto judge didn’t believe her story and has sent P.C. Joseph Green home a free man. The officer was found not guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting and threatening a stripper at the For Your Eyes Only club on King and Bathurst in 2004.

“I was just very disappointed in the justice system,” Green’s accuser said as she stormed out of court following the verdict.

Green’s lawyer, Gary Clewly, argued that his client only brandished a police radio, which in the gloom of the strip club could have been mistaken for a weapon. And in the end, it was the presence of that pistol – or lack of it – that appears to have turned the decision.

“There was a home run. I’m not sure which fence it went over but I know that the ball didn’t come back into the infield,” Clewly boasted.

Justice John Hamilton ruled that no one actually saw the cop pull the gun and there wasn’t enough evidence to definitively prove it happened. He also believes the fact witnesses were drinking alcohol at the time could have muddied their memories and perceptions of what happened.

“I was suspecting the truth would come out and it did,” Clewly added.

Green walked out of 361 University Ave. declaring himself “happy” with the decision and vowing never to frequent another strip club.

Despite being cleared on all charges, he still faces Police Act charges for discreditable conduct stemming from the incident.
