Cops Solve One Jewellery Store Robbery While Still Hunting For Suspects In Another

It was a busy afternoon for Toronto Hold-up Squad officers Friday, after two separate heists had them chasing down a number of suspects. The first incident that brought sirens screaming came at a Bloor and Spadina area jewellery store. Bandits smashed a display case at the Ngoc Chau store and then took off. They were in such a rush to get away that they left one of their weapons – which turned out to be a BB gun – behind and cops recovered it at the scene.

But they didn’t get far with their loot. Officers swooped in and arrested two suspects – including one who was apprehended right near the crime scene. No one was hurt.

Not long after, cruisers were called to Dufferin and Finch, where three suspects took down another jewellery store. The K9 unit was called in as ETF officers armed with machine guns patrolled the area looking for the three men who invaded the Diamond Jewellery Liquidators.

Five nearby schools were placed in lockdown for a few hours as a precaution and police recovered the getaway car at Keele and Wilson. But despite the massive manhunt, the suspects got away.

There’s no word on what this group of bandits wound up with and investigators are preparing some descriptions to aid in the search.
