13-Year-Old Boy Dies At Wasaga Beach

A new tragedy has hit one of Ontario’s most famous shorelines.

A 13-year-old boy from Quebec was riding a water craft called the Yamaha Wave Runner with two other men in their twenties when he fell off the device and crashed into the water at Nottawasaga Bay near Wasaga Beach Thursday.

The other two men were able to retrieve the victim and bring him to shore, where EMS crews rushed him to hospital while performing CPR.

Unfortunately, it was too late. The youngster who was enjoying a carefree summer outing one minute was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Police say all three of the riders were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident, but it was still wasn’t enough to save him.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released and neither has the official cause of his death.

It’s the latest tragedy in the area and sadly it hasn’t been the only one this month.

On July 13th, a Toronto man took out an inflatable dinghy and found the wind carried it further than he intended. He jumped off the raft for reasons that may never be known and wound up in the water.

Irfan Samed Jogiat was just 20 years old when he drowned.

There have now been 12 water-related deaths over the last decade at the famous tourist location.
