Shots Fired At Shaken Driver

A driver was left shaken but ultimately unhurt after a bizarre shooting Monday night.
It happened on Yarrow Rd. near Keele and Eglinton, right across the street from York Memorial C.I. But it doesn’t appear the school was involved. It happened long after classes had been dismissed for the day, when the motorist was pulling his dark blue sports car out onto the street from a driveway around 6pm.
As the vehicle backed out, several loud bangs suddenly cracked the evening silence.
It was only after another car took off and disappeared down the street that the stunned driver realized someone had taken a shot at him. The proof was not only in the noise but in his car. It sports two large bullet holes, mute testimony to how close the shots came to hitting him.
The would-be victim hasn’t been able to tell police much about his suspected attacker, because it doesn’t appear he got a very good look at him. So far, the limited description is of a black male wearing a puffy jacket and a hat, not much for cops to go on.
Officers remained on the closed off scene hours after the discharge, collecting forensic evidence, including several shell casings that lay on the street.
Fortunately, the driver wasn’t hurt. It’s not clear if he has any idea why he might have been targeted, but cops were trying to sort that out as they questioned him at 12 Division.
An incident previously reported as a shooting on Willowridge Road is now a sudden death investigation.
