Man Wins $1.1 Million After Buying 11 Lottery Tickets With The Same Numbers

James Peterson is not only a guy who’s pretty sure of himself, he’s also an extraordinarily lucky man. The Hampton, Virginia resident played his state’s lottery and won $1.1 million. That’s not so unusual. But the way he got to that total is.

The local assistant city manager used the numbers of the day he and the rest of his family were born. He was so convinced they were the right figures, he bought 11 separate tickets, all bearing the same digits.

All of them paid off at $100,000 each, leaving him with the multi-million dollar total when he went to cash them in. “I just had a feeling,” he recalls about his good fortune – with an accent on the fortune.

The winner spread the wealth – he actually bought 13 chances and gave two of them to his sons, who are now also flush with cash.

Peterson claims he has no intention of giving up his day job, which he’s held for 25 years. But his nights are likely to be a lot better.

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 278,256. And just for the record in case you’d like to see if his picks are lucky for you, the numbers he chose were: 10, 13, 18, 23 and 30.
