WinterCity Takes Over Toronto

It’s the first weekend of WinterCity and Toronto has pulled out all the stops.
From the free activities happening at Nathan Phillips Square to the Warm Up Series which offers discounts on indoor invents, there’ll be no shortage of things to do for the next two weeks. But the festival may be best-known for the popular Winterlicious promotion: more than 150 restaurants serving up their best prix-fixe menus.
“Everything happening at Nathan Phillips Square is absolutely free…There’s something for the whole family,” noted staff member Miki Stricker-Talbot.
That’s enough to get Chantelle Yesno out of the house.
“It’s pretty cheap…and they have a lot of different things for the kids to do.”
And for once, the weather is cooperating.
It’s chilly but sunny, with the low dipping down to -9 C overnight. In fact, the city has ended the extreme cold weather alert issued Friday.
There are a few flurries in the forecast, but nothing like the dumping we got earlier in the week.
In short, there’s plenty of time to enjoy all the city has to offer.
