Fire May Cause Smoke Drifting Over QEW

Just one day after a massive fire destroyed a Mississauga warehouse, fire officials in a different part of southern Ontario are asking motorists to keep away from another huge blaze.
This one took place at Martek Inc., a construction landscaping and deck supply company at Walker’s Line and Harvester Road in Burlington.
The industrial area is close to the QEW and those heading home westbound on Monday may have seen the huge plumes of smoke coming from the scene and wondered what was going on. That smoke could play havoc with those on the busy highway as the wind blows it over into their direction.
A host of equipment and firefighters remain on scene battling the blaze. A nearby daycare centre was evacuated solely as a precaution and there was never any danger to the children inside.
The other good news: despite the blaze, the smoke and the damage, no one has been injured in the fire.
