Officials are investigating after an abandoned building in Vaughan was destroyed in a fire.
Investigators have deemed the overnight blaze suspicious.
Flames broke out around 2am at 11291 Kipling Ave. near Kirby Rd, and the house was fully engulfed by the time York Regional Police officers on air patrol spotted it.
Vaughan fire fighters concentrated on making sure the fire didn’t spread, bringing in a temporary water tank to battle the flames. There were no hydrants nearby.
“Fire was reported by York Regional Police,” outlined Deputy Chief Larry Bentley of Vaughan Fire/Rescue Service.
“The Air One helicopter spotted the fully engulfed structure here. Upon location it was determined that the building has been abandoned for quite some time. We’ve just taken a defensive position here and are keeping the fire from spreading.”
Fortunately, there were no injuries.
