Two people have been killed and a woman rushed to hospital after a car rolled over and ploughed into a guardrail on the northbound DVP Monday night.
All lanes were subsequently closed north of Don Mills through Eglinton, and will likely remain so for several hours as police investigate.
Apparently a red car travelling northbound on the DVP came in contact with a white compact just south of the Eglinton Ave. E. off-ramp.
The impact caused the red car to rollover and crash into the guardrail while the other vehicle kept going.
The driver, a man, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger died shortly after, and a third occupant, a female in her mid 20s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
There’s no word yet on charges, but police admit they are looking into witness reports that the two cars were street racing.
“We do have witnesses who said that a white-styled sports car and red Nissan were doing what we would commonly refer to as street racing and jockeying for positions at high speeds,” said Sgt. Tim Burrows. “We are trying to determine if that is in fact true.”
