There’s only one thing I wanted to know about Fast & Furious.
“No, I didn’t do my own stunts,” Jordana Brewster laughs over the phone.
She’s speaking from Los Angeles, the day before the movie comes out on DVD.
“Michelle [Rodriguez], she’s brave,” Brewster continues.
Rodriguez, it turns out, did perform many of the daring feats present in the movie. Though Brewster relished the challenge of appearing a big-budget action flick, getting strapped to a speeding car was not part of her job description.
“Being on set was amazing,” she said
“It’s a huge movie…it’s just so different from being on an independent film.”
For the fourth installment of the franchise, the cast – Brewster, Rodriguez, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel – was paired up with director Justin Lin.
“Working in L.A. was so much fun, and working with Justin again was great. There was a great vibe on set,” she explained.
Brewster had previously worked with Lin on A nnapolis and being part of the team felt in some ways like a reunion.
“It does not feel like it’s been eight years since the first movie came out!” she said with disbelief.
“We rarely get a chance to hang out together outside of the set, but it’s like we’ve never been apart once we’re togther.”
In fact, Brewster said her favourite park of making Fast & Furious was promoting it with her co-stars.
“We got to travel the world together! You rarely get a chance to do something like that.”
When CityNews asked what she was most looking forward to about the DVD, she mentioned a short film Diesel directed. Los Bandoleros “really gets into the love story,” Brewster explained.
“Everything happens so quickly on screen,” she said, “it’s good to see it slowed down.”
Fast & Furious comes out on DVD July 28.
